Some stories should have stayed buried....

But someone had to write them down.

Strange worlds. Unsettling stories. Things that refuse to stay buried.

By the time I realized the streets were empty, the mist had swallowed the streetlights. Fresno was never truly silent. There were always engines humming somewhere, a dog barking behind a fence, the distant rush of tires on wet pavement. But that night, every familiar sound had stopped.

Then I heard footsteps behind me. I walked faster. So did they.

At the next corner, something scraped along the sidewalk—a slow, dragging sound, like a heavy chain being pulled over concrete. I turned, but the mist showed me nothing.

“Hello?” I called.

From somewhere inside the fog, my own voice answered. Not an echo. A reply. Then something whispered my name, very softly, from the street ahead.

And I remembered I lived alone.

Some stories haunt us. Others pull us into places that shouldn't exist, histories that refuse to stay buried, and mysteries that grow stranger the closer we look.
